Lake Mateos boasts an amazing Year Round Trophy Bass Season! Unlike other Mexico lakes, you don’t deal with commercial nets at all or a massive hoard of boats!

It’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s brim full of bass! Sound too good to be true? There is such a lake---all 55,000 acres of it. And one of the best parts is that the fishing pressure is almost unbelievably light. These are the primary reasons why we opened the Posada Club lodge at Western Mexico’s Lake Mateos.   Want to pinpoint the exact location of this bass fishing paradise? It’s easy. Get a map of Mexico and locate the city of Culiacan in the Mexican State of Sinaloa. Lake Mateos is about 55 minutes away by car.  It is not a brand new lake. At one time it was regarded as one of Mexico’s best bass fishing spots.

Rocks, canyon walls, points and flats full of partially submerged trees dominate the bass-holding structure. Lake Mateos also contains numerous islands, submerged humps and creek channels that offer bass additional places to hunt. Shorelines and flats make great places to throw topwater lures, while the humps and flooded brush offer good spots for spinnerbaits and soft plastics. Off the points and parallel to the channel edges, it is suggested to run crankbaits or swimbaits.
