Fishing Tips: With a growth rate estimated by Mexican biologists at 2 pounds per year, the Lake Novillo bass population gets noticeably bigger each season.  Believe it or not, some bass fishermen have reported catching as many as 150 bass per boat in a single day. Most of them use traditional bass fishing methods; but fly fishing for bass is also popular. Big spinnerbaits or scroungers with paddle-tail swimbait trailers seem to catch the larger bass.

A fisherman who enjoys power fishing with crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jerkbaits can collect dozens of bass in a day’s time. Topwater enthusiasts usually enjoy the kind of nonstop action seldom found in the United States. And the more finesse-oriented anglers can simply mop up with plastic worms and other soft creatures.

Plan Ahead:  You'll have to book early to get some of the limited accommodations during the year-round bass fishing season.
